What is this programme about?
American Express partnered with Foursquare to develop a seamless technology that provides Cardmembers rewards based on their location, without the need for codes or vouchers. Across the UK & U.S. at participating merchants, American Express Cardmembers can now redeem American Express Specials and pay with their connected American Express Card to receive a credit on their monthly statement. *Unless otherwise stated, only valid U.K. eligible American Express Cards can only enrol in U.K. offers, and valid U.S. eligible American Express Cards can enrol in U.S. offers.
Which American Express Cards are eligible for this programme?
You may enroll any valid UK American Express Consumer Card or Small Business Card in the programme at sync.americanexpress.co.uk. American Express Corporate Cards and Prepaid Cards (such as American Express Gift Cards) are not eligible. Visit https://sync.americanexpress.co.uk/Partner/Terms for full eligibility rules.
What if I don’t have a Foursquare account?
Visit http://www.foursquare.com to easily create a new Foursquare account.
How do I get started?
Visit Connect My Card to get started. After you connect to Foursquare you will be redirected to our secure American Express page to provide your name, email address, and American Express Card number to link your Card to your Foursquare account. Your Card information will never be shared with Foursquare. Once your Card has been connected, a confirmation message will appear.
Why do I have to connect my American Express Card to participate?
Connecting your Card is necessary so that American Express can provide you with exclusive offers within the Foursquare app, and send credits to your Card account when you enrol in offers and spend at participating locations using your connected Card. The Card connect occurs on a secure American Express site. Your Card information will never be shared with Foursquare.
Are you sharing my American Express Card number with Foursquare?
No. The accounts are linked with a unique identifier specifically created for this programme. Your American Express Card account number will never be shared with Foursquare.
If I received a replacement Card, do I need to connect my new Card?
If your Card was issued by American Express: We will automatically update your replacement Card with your connect information if your Card was replaced due to fraud activity or was lost or stolen. Any enrollments that are still available and not yet redeemed will be automatically transferred to your replacement Card. If your connected Card was replaced for any other reason, you will need to disconnect your old Card and then connect your replacement Card to your Foursquare account. Please call the number on the back of your Card with any questions.

If your Card was issued by a third-party bank licensed to issue American Express-branded cards: You will need to disconnect your old Card and then connect your replacement Card to your Foursquare account.
How do I add an offer?
Once you have connected your Card, you can start to enjoy offers when you are out and about by visiting a participating location, using Foursquare to locate specials from American Express, and unlocking available offers. When offers appear, click on the Special and then press “add to Card.” Once you make a qualifying purchase using your connected American Express Card, you will receive a message confirming that the offer was successfully redeemed.
Where can I find out where American Express Specials are available?
Cardmembers will be notified of an American Express Special when checking in at participating merchants.
What if I have more than one American Express Card?
You can only connect one Card per unique Foursquare account. When you add an offer in the Foursquare app and spend at the Merchant, the Card you use must match the Card and Foursquare account that was enrolled in the programme.
What if I want to disconnect/change my Card?
You may disconnect/change your Card anytime at sync.americanexpress.co.uk/unsync or by calling the Customer Service number on the back of your Card.
How do I redeem an offer?
After locating an American Express Special, tap the Special to view the offer details. Add the offer to your Card, and upon meeting the spending criteria of that offer, a credit will appear on your statement. Credits generally appear within 3 - 5 business days but may take up to eight weeks
How long will it take for me to get my statement credit for offers?
A statement credit on your Card account will be issued generally within 3 - 5 business days after your qualifying purchase but may take up to eight weeks. If you do not receive a statement credit after eight weeks, call the number on the back of your Card.
Which mobile devices can I see American Express offers within?
You can view American Express offers within the Foursquare app on iPhone, Android and Blackberry. For Blackberry mobile devices, please note that you can only participate in the Programme using a BlackBerry with OS 6.0 or later.
Why can’t I use my American Express Card for some Foursquare Offers?
American Express provides exclusive Specials to our Cardmembers on Foursquare as part of our program. Because we manage all aspects of the user experience, we are able to ensure consistent value, service and security for our Cardmembers. The offers you are seeing and are not able to add are part of a separate program, not provided by American Express.
